WE ARE GREENS. We Are Greens seeks to provide fresh, organic fruits and vegetables at a fraction of current market prices. We'll grow these vegetables hydroponically in downtown areas, steps away from public transportation - avoiding the carbon footprint of other providers who truck organic vegetables to stores from an average of 1,500 miles away. We have already scouted an available pilot location in downtown Brooklyn, two blocks away from subway, buses, LIRR, and Amtrak. We Are Greens is presently comprised of a team of engineers, environmentalists, architects, researchers and chefs. We have been devoted to the design of facilities that will utilize solar paneled windows, hydroponic power and recycled styrofoam infused soil. We Are Greens has the power to transform the urban environment. By having locations in major urban centers (starting in NY), we can establish the link between nutrition and health for underserved communities, while making proper nutrition as affordable and convenient as fast food. Improving the health and health education in these communities will bring significant economic and quality of life benefits. We will educate our customers and the surrounding communities (through classes and tours of the facility) about the importance of proper nutrition and the impact everyday choices have on our health and the environment. As a chef, I know how easy it is to eat a healthy diet. As a New Yorker, I know how few people see a healthy diet as affordable or convenient. I want to make a healthy diet easily accessible for people who live in our urban centers, offering them healthier, happier, and longer lives. I also want to reduce the carbon footprint of the food we eat by growing beautiful organic vegetables at locations in major cities.
